Short biography

SelfPedro M. Ferreira was born in Abrã, a small village near Santarém, Portugal, in 1970. He received the licenciatura five-year first degree in Systems Engineering and Computing and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering and Computing from the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal, in 1996 and 2008, respectively. From 1997 to 08/2012 he has been Student Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Assistant Professor and Research Fellow in different schools and research centres of the the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal.  From 04/2007 to 10/2008 he was a Marie Curie Research Fellow at Unilever Research and Development Port Sunlight, Wirral, United Kingdom. Currently he is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon where he integrates the LASIGE research centre in the research line on Timeliness and Adaptation in Dependable Systems.
His main research interests are Computational/Artificial Intelligence methods, Artificial Neural Networks, Process Modelling, Complex Event Processing, Control Systems, and Prediction/Forecasting methods. He is a member of the IFAC technical committee for computational intelligence in control (3.2).
